Welcome to our Elk Hunting pagesElk Stories "Wild" Bill Tower's Cascade Roosevelt Elk
After a long work week, 'Ole Willie grabbed his gear and blazed toward his hunting area just out of Oakridge,Oregon. Arriving on the mountain at dusk the eve prior to opening day, bill found that all the trails he had planned to hunt were plugged with RV's, campers, tents and the like. He figured directly that the elk were going to feel some serious pressure the next day and that the bulls would not be in the open for long. The next morning, Bill jumped into the thick timber on the rugged mountain side and waited for what he knew would pass by. Just past light, two cows rolled past. Ten minutes later, antlers bounced in view and this nice bull followed. *note: Willie pulled up on the bull, squeezed the trigger and..snap (getting out of camp so swiftly, he didn't chamber a shell), this bull was gone!
Following a grumble and growl form Willie, he pulled out the cow-talk and turned this bull right around. The second time was the charm. Can you believe that one of the camper's felt that it was "unfair" that bill shot this animal due to the fact that the camper been camping there for two weeks and had no luck? What a dumb ass!
Thanks for the Photo's Willie,
