A celebration of life gathering was held May 6th for Gerald L. "Jerry" Turpin of Hamilton, Montana, formerly of Springfield, who died April 10th of injuries sustained in a logging accident. He was 23.

Turpin was born Nov. 20th, 1977, in Eugene. He married Julie Dyer in Hamilton on June 20th, 1998. He worked as a logger and big game hunting guide in Hamilton. He also did carpentry and concrete work. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed his Ford pick up truck, horses, good times, being in the mountains and working in the woods. He especially enjoyed his dogs and being with many friends.

Survivers include his wife and a son, Dillion Dyer; his father, Larry Turpin of Junction City; his mother, Linda Medenbach of Hamilton; a brother William "Billy" Tower of Springfield; and three sisters, Michele Turpin of Seattle, Kelly Welsh of Elmira and Vicky Floyd of Redmond.

His ashes were taken by horseback into the Selway Mountains in Montana. The celebration of life gathering potluck was held in Hamilton.
